What is Turkish Coffee and How do you make it?

Turkish coffee is a type of coffee that is made by brewing finely ground coffee beans with water in a pot called a cezve. It is a traditional method of making coffee that originated in Turkey and is popular in many countries in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and the Balkans.

To make Turkish coffee, you will need:

  • finely ground coffee beans
  • cold water
  • a cezve (a small pot with a long handle)

Here is a basic recipe for making Turkish coffee:

  1. Measure out the water and pour it into the cezve.
  2. Add the coffee beans and sugar (if using) to the water.
  3. Place the cezve on the stove and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. As the coffee boils, a thick foam will form on top.
  4. Once the coffee reaches a boil, remove the cezve from the heat and let it sit for a minute to allow the grounds to settle.
  5. Pour the coffee into small cups, taking care to evenly distribute the foam.

Turkish coffee is typically served with a small glass of water on the side, and it is often enjoyed slowly, with friends or family. It is also common to serve Turkish coffee with sweets, such as Turkish delight or baklava.
